What could The Defender’s seal be?!?!? While it isn’t our world, it almost feels like it. After re-discovering fantasy via A Song of Ice and Firesome years later, I often found myself wondering how these books would hold up now, reading them as an adult. Boyer and Kenneth J.

As daft as it is to yank readers out of your fantasy world by sticking in references to our own world, she somehow pulls it off without this reader being too-much My, my, how one’s impressions can change over a mere thirty years! Seriously, I was aware that this was part of the BAF, and the only wholly original title in the program. It was her fault I reread Melanie Rawn ‘s Dragon Prince trilogy last year and I definitely wanted to join in with this one.

The amount of times that Kelson, Morgan and Duncan verbally patted each other on the back was, well But it gives me great pleasure to know that the Deryni trilogies are waiting when I’m ready for them. Soon however superstitious fears, bigotry, misunderstandings and simple prejudice brought about a persecution of the Dreyni people.
He probably experiences the most important journey in this book, but he’s also mainly the object on which everyone else acts. The final scene or confrontation in the book takes place with the sorceress Charissa.
One thing lacking is characterization, the heart and soul of any book for me.

The omniscient narrator jumps around from point-of-view to deeyni, explaining everyone’s thoughts and motives and leaving no room for mystery, suspense, or the chance for me to deduce something on my own. Almost nothing happened in the book but I know what everyone was wearing.
