It is a period for which I have little frame of reference, so I enjoyed the historical aspects of the novel. Look at some other reviews on this damn epic novel It is a daunting or so pages, and if you get stuck in a winsot of Amber’s life you don’t enjoy, settle in, because you could be there for a while.

The plague chapters are the best part, and I lament the author didn’t exploit them better to have either the hero or the heroine grow up a bit, instead of just going on as usual, each with their own ambitions to achieve. Winsor successfully uses this device to create a rounded view of the time period and the large number of characters are not overwhelming, at all. After 3 years of her torture, she finally sees the truth. Clare never felt she belonged with the poor family who raised her, and when one day a troop of cavaliers ride into her village she’s swept away by Lord Bruce Carlton.

FA is arguably a classic in the genre of romantic fiction, and a highly entertaining read.

Jack of Shadows Roger Zelazny. She was the type of person who you wanted to succeed, to be happy, to be with her love, yet your nose crinkle in disdain about her dishonourable actions. But throughout her trials and escapades, she remains, in her heart, true to the one man she really loves, the one man she can never have.

All in all, I entirely wimsor it, have read it more than once for pure entertainment’s sake, and winor recommended it to others. Amazon Inspire Digital Educational Resources.
